Living Memory is a public performance exploring the making of public memorials through

participatory action.  Using the tradition of Vat Savitri Puja, in which women tie threads around a banyan tree, whilst praying for their families health and welfare lasting beyond this life and into the next. The thread represents the fragile nature of life, love, trust and faith that must be cherished. A single thread may be weak, but, when it is wound endless times around the trunk, it becomes strong and unbreakable. The performance invites park-goers of all ages to participate in the making of the future health.
